La Vernia High School alumnus Jennifer Kneupper Millar points out memories to fellow alumni Lindsey Stephens and Emilie Downey at the ‘Spirit & Sports’ exhibit at the La Vernia Heritage Museum during the Pick Up Event parcels of sponsors from the Association of Former Students of La Vernia on May 4. The exhibition will be open until December.

The La Vernia Heritage Museum hosted the La Vernia Alumni Association Sponsor Packet Pick Up Party on May 4, ahead of the organization’s May 7 Casino Night fundraiser. It was also the soft opening of the museum’s new exhibition, “The History of the Schools of La Vernia, featuring Spirit & Sports from 1870 to 1999”. The alumni association partnered with the La Vernia Historical Association to create the exhibit, which includes hundreds of photos and memorabilia. This is the first of a series of exhibitions on the schools of La Vernia. The alumni association helped fund the exhibit and collected items to display.

“It was great fun working with the LVAA,” said museum director Susan Richter.

The exhibition will be open until December. The museum is open the first and third Sunday of each month from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Free entry. The museum is run by volunteers from the Historical Association of La Vernia.

A color book of the exhibition is in the process of being printed, which includes all the photos of the exhibition and many more, a complete catalog of all the exhibits and the history of the schools of La Vernia. To reserve a copy, send your name, address and phone number to [email protected] The cost will be around $40 depending on the final printing costs. All proceeds benefit the La Vernia Historical Association.
