Blown Away host Nick Uhas to host glass demonstration at Corning Museum of Glass this weekend

CORNING, NY (WETM) – On November 7, the Corning Museum of Glass will host a glass demonstration with YouTuber scientist and TikTok star Nick Uhas.

Uhas has hosted Netflix’s popular ‘Blown Away’ reality series which features CMoG. He also creates science teaching and experimentation videos on social media platforms. Uhas has more than 700,000 subscribers on Youtube and 7.3 million subscribers on TikTok.

Now he’s back in Crystal City to host his own live glass demonstration titled “Sizzling Glass Science” from 1pm to 2pm.

Uhas said his passion for science started when he was in 6th grade.

“My 6th grade teacher Mr. Wilson took us to this place called Big Darby Creek,” Uhas said. “We took water samples and were able to look at things under a microscope. It blew me away like that. I was like, ‘Oh my God, there is a universe that we totally ignore in the water. Like, what else is there in there? “

At first he was skeptical of going to a museum exclusively devoted to glass. No pun intended, he was blown away on his first visit.

“It was fascinating there,” Uhas said. “[I couldn’t believe] the history and science of it. It really feels like a science museum.

Now Uhas looks forward to every time he visits Corning.

“[Corning is] so much fun and interesting and awesome, ”Uhas said. “I push people to come to Corning. It’s really cool.”

More information about the demonstration is available at The CMoG website. There will also be a 30-minute meetup at the West Bridge near the Blown Away 2 exhibit after the demonstration.
