The Hoard Historical Museum will welcome local author Corey Geiger on October 16 for a reading and signing of his book “On a Wisconsin Family Farm: Historic Tales of Character, Community, and Culture”.
The book follows the story of the Geiger family matriarch, Anna Satorie, who was the sole owner of the homestead at a time when it was common for women to own property. She later married John Burich and together they continued to improve her farm. Geiger’s book explores his family’s history as it relates to the farm and the land.
âWe are very happy that Corey is joining us,â said Merrilee Lee, director of the Hoard Historical Museum. âCorey is a world-renowned agricultural journalist, sharing vital farming information and farm stories with people around the world. Now he shares the story of his family farm through his new book.
Geiger is the current editor of Hoard’s Dairyman magazine, published in Fort Atkinson by WD Hoard and Sons Company. He joined the editorial team in 1995, after graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
At the Hoard Historical Museum, Geiger will read excerpts from his book, which will be available for purchase for signature. The program will be held in the Jones Family Gallery of the museum and is free. Wearing a face mask is compulsory in the museum building.
